the early stages of a new relationship, leaving his ex, Belle, horrified and desperate to protect others from his manipulative ways.

Belle recently escaped the clutches of her abusive marriage to Tom, but the shadow of his influence continues to loom large.

Despite her efforts to move on, Tom has not let go, continuing to spy on Belle through secret cameras and even going so far as to pretend that her beloved dog, Piper, had been killed. In a bid to prevent Tom from harming anyone else, Belle turned to the police, hoping to use Claire’s Law to disclose Tom’s abusive history to potential future partners. However, her hopes are dashed when she receives an email stating that no disclosure will be made following her application.

As if her disappointment wasn’t enough, Belle is further terrorized when Tom makes a coded remark that reveals his knowledge of her attempt to warn others about him. The situation escalates when Tom threatens to release compromising photos of Belle, silencing her with fear. Determined to take control, Belle devises a plan to steal Tom’s tablet, hoping to access the photos and turn the situation in her favor.

The tension reaches a boiling point when Belle confronts Tom at the Woolpack, but the argument takes a shocking turn when Amelia Spencer inadvertently reveals that she and Tom have been secretly seeing each other for a few weeks. Belle and Lydia Dingle are left in shock, with Belle’s concern growing for Amelia’s safety, fearing that the young mother might fall victim to the same horrors she endured.

Emmerdale producer Sophie Roper commented on the upcoming storyline, highlighting the show’s aim to shed light on the often undetectable nature of domestic abuse. “Domestic abuse can be undetectable from outside a relationship, and hopefully, the scenes of Belle and then Amelia’s relationship, though difficult viewing at times, may shine a light on some aspects of domestic abuse,” Roper said.
