Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) and Denise Fox (Diane Parish) look set to reunite in EastEnders next week – just weeks after their divorce proceedings began.
Viewers of the BBC One soap will undoubtedly remember that Jack had been engaging in a steamy affair with Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) for months.
The pair first kissed shortly before Christmas, and the floor fell from beneath Denise’s feet following his betrayal.
Her mental health then deteriorated as a result of being involved in the murder of Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) on Christmas Day. After she was sectioned, Jack tried to support her but she lashed out and refused to reconcile.
Last month, Denise decided to progress with the divorce, though their conversation was thrown into disarray when Jack learnt that his daughters had been caught up in a mass-crushing incident at Peggy’s nightclub.
In upcoming scenes, Denise hears that Pastor Clayton (Howard Saddler) has taken his own life, and arrives home to comfort Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter), who is upset that he managed to evade justice for sexually assaulting her.
During their chat, Yolande talks about the importance of honesty. This triggers Denise into opening up about what she knows about the club crush.
Her eldest daughter Chelsea (Zaraah Abrahams) was responsible, having fixed the booking system to allow more tickets to be sold.
Seeing how Chelsea’s lies are ruining Jack’s relationship with daughter Penny (Kitty Castledine), who he believes to be responsible, she makes it her mission to make things right.
Later, back at home, he tells her how grateful he is for everything she’s done recently in supporting his family, and makes a moving speech about how fantastic she is.
