Emmerdale fans are in for a surprise as it has been revealed that the picturesque holiday cottage featured in recent

episodes is not actually located in Wales. Instead, the scenes were filmed on the Emmerdale village set in Yorkshire.

In the upcoming episodes, viewers will see Tom King and Belle Dingle, played by James Chase and Eden Taylor-Draper,

head to a seemingly remote holiday cottage in Wales. This location is intended to symbolize Tom’s coercive control over

Belle, as he isolates her from her loved ones. However, it has been disclosed that this “secluded” getaway is actually a set piece within the Emmerdale village complex.

Jeff Hordley, who portrays Cain Dingle, shared behind-the-scenes details, explaining that the cottage scenes were filmed at the top of the village, specifically at the new building meant to represent Moira and Cain’s house. The design team did a remarkable job transforming this space into what appears to be a remote cottage. According to Jillian Slight, Head of Design, the team had full access to the building and was able to create a believable Welsh retreat by extensively decorating and landscaping the site, which was originally a pile of builder’s rubble.

The cottage, although meant to be a Welsh getaway, was entirely constructed on the Emmerdale set, which has allowed for a controlled and detailed portrayal of the isolation Tom imposes on Belle. This illusion is particularly striking as it showcases the crew’s ability to craft a convincing setting for Tom’s manipulative schemes.

In a special flashback episode airing on July 24, viewers will witness Tom’s sinister control over Belle as they arrive at the cottage. The episode will reveal the extent of Tom’s physical and emotional dominance, further highlighting Belle’s despair and isolation. Despite her efforts to please Tom, she finds herself trapped in a grim situation with little hope for escape.

Laura Shaw, a member of the production team, emphasized the commitment to portraying this storyline with authenticity and sensitivity. She noted that this narrative is not a brief plotline but will unfold over a significant period, extending until the end of the year. Shaw’s remarks underscore the show’s dedication to handling the subject matter with the depth and seriousness it demands, aiming to reflect the real-life complexities of abusive relationships.
