Bold & Beautiful’s Brooke raised more than a few eyebrows
with her over-the-top and seemingly out of character reaction
to the news that her son RJ had been cheated on, but there are
perfectly, erm, logical reasons why the topic was so triggering,
and why she landed where she did on the matter!
One would think Brooke would hardly blink an eye at the news that someone had cheated on someone else after all of her years on Bold & Beautiful, but she went from zero to hysterics when her down in the dumps son confessed that his devoted girlfriend Luna had been with another guy — and that guy was his cousin Zende. Brooke was just a hair’s breadth from full-on hyperventilation as she exclaimed, “Oh my God! Luna slept with Zende?!”
Cheating happens routinely on Bold & Beautiful, and Brooke has often been a guilty party, but that’s also one of the reasons that the subject would be so triggering for the blonde after decades of living through Brooke and Taylor’s rivalry over Ridge.
It’s not like betrayal by family members is anything new either — Brooke herself bounced between brothers Ridge and Thorne before having babies with their father Eric. But the idea that Zende cheated with RJ’s girlfriend seemed truly shocking to Brooke. Perhaps that’s just because RJ is her son and she was feeling protective. As we all know from following Hope’s romantic roller-coaster, Brooke goes to the wall for her children and loves to hold a grudge against anyone who messes with them. So, that part makes sense.
Speaking of walls — here’s the real reason the circumstances were so triggering to Brooke — the whole mistaken identity thing resonates with her.
Years ago, Brooke boinked Hope’s boyfriend Oliver, at her high school graduation no less, up against a wall after mistaking him for Ridge. Although there were no special mints involved, in Brooke’s defense, everyone was wearing masks and the music was really loud and pulsating. If you watched those scenes, you will never have forgotten the music that was playing — Pose by Daddy Yankee — which was featured for days on end and in all the flashbacks afterward. It was the past equivalent of “ten toes”
