Casualty’s new Clinical Lead Patrick Onley (played
by Jamie Glover) came under scrutiny in the latest
episode of the long running BBC medical drama as
Dylan Keogh (William Beck) pulled him up on a
recent patient death. Dylan has been blaming himself since his patient died after penicillin was administered despite an allergy.
However, after a whistleblower released damning footage of the ED, which was used in a TV expose, one scene caught Dylan’s eye. He saw Patrick in the vicinity of the patient in question and he drew colleague Stevie Nash’s (Elinor Lawless) attention to it
When Patrick discharged his patient he could no longer contain himself. “It’s not the first time you’ve meddled with one of my patients,” he siad handing him a phone wth the incriminating video as Stevie looked on. An incredulous Patirck enquired what he was looking at as Dylan spat: “Why didn’t you tell me that you treated Samantha Harvey? Why did you leave me hanging out to to dry at the M and M meeting?”
Stevie interjected telling him, “none of this matters” but Dylan insisted, “it matters”. “Somebody administered Penicillin to a patient that was known to have a penicillin allergy,” he fumed at his colleague.
“Are you accusing me of medical negligence?” Patrick enqired. “Have you finally lost all sense,” he asked. “I think the thing that doesn’t make sense is that you’re still practicing,” Dylan announced.
