EastEnders star Zaraah Abrahams has teased what’s ahead for her character Chelsea Fox following the club crush at Peggy’s.
Recently in the soap, Chelsea increased the amount of tickets for an event Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine) was holding. It was done out of
revenge after Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) sacked Chelsea and allowed Penny to have her job.
Chelsea hoped that her plan would leave Penny in a chaotic and stressful situation – but she certainly didn’t expect lives to be put in danger as a result.
As more and more people filed into the bar, people inside realised they had become trapped. With exits blocked, Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) managed to work out the only free way out was via an office door that was locked.
The door was shut thanks to Junior Knight (Micah Balfour) and Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) being inside and continuing their affair. Just as the door opened, Lauren fell to the floor and was trampled on due to the amount of people rushing outside.
Another person who ended up in hospital was Penny’s sister Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd). She is now in a wheelchair as she recovers from injuries sustained on her pelvis.
As it stands, Chelsea has only told mum Denise (Diane Parish) about the crush being her fault. We know the truth will get revealed eventually though and for star Zaraah Abrahams, she’s excited to see how the her character’s future in Walford plays out.
‘Someone’s got to face the consequences of her actions!’, she told us during a chat at this year’s Inside Soap Awards.
‘It might be Chelsea, it might not be. It’s going to get quite heavy, I think. A lot of people were hurt so I think there’s a heavy consequence to be paid and so it’s just about whether Chelsea steps up and takes the blame or not!’.
‘I thought, my god woman!’, she added, revealing her reaction to Chelsea’s storyline.
‘I think it’s so nice to shine light on these things, because these things are happening. I didn’t personally want Chelsea to be responsible, but it’s always exciting to get something like that because it’s not just all dramatic to do, there was action involved, other characters, it was really good, really juicy!.’
Chelsea’s former co-star Toby-Alexander Smith told us in an exclusive chat last month that he’d be up for returning to the BBC One soap as Gray Atkins.
‘People keep asking me the question,’ he told us at the Cure Usher Ball. ‘I’ve heard there’s quite a lot of chat going on about Gray at the moment, and I’m like, “Really?”
‘I mean, I’m waiting for the phone to ring. If it does, great! I want to know what he’s up to!’
‘I’d love to see Toby back!’, Zaraah said without hesitation when we mentioned this to her.
‘Gray is just everything a soap could wish for and Toby is everything you could wish for to work with. That would be fantastic, I’d love to have Toby back.’
