FBI fans, there’s plenty more to look forward to.

At long last, we have a confirmed release date for the seventh instalment of FBI – and US fans will be able to enjoy the new series very soon.

It’s been announced that alongside FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted, the original series will premiere its seventh

season on CBS on Tuesday 15th October.

Since its debut back in 2018, Dick Wolf’s FBI has continued to be a hit in the Law & Order creator’s series crown. With the most recent sixth season continuing to pull in fans, the crime drama has actually been renewed for three more seasons.

That means that we not only have season 7 to look forward to, but we also have seasons 8 and 9 to anticipate in the future also.

At the time of the series renewal, CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach said: “The All-FBI Tuesday is a powerful force to be reckoned with on our primetime schedule.

“Dick Wolf and the talent in front of and behind the camera on all three series continue to deliver top-notch storytelling, riveting action and intrigue that has captivated a dedicated fanbase steadily across multiple seasons. We are excited to see what next season holds for all these heroic characters.”

FBI season 7 release date

FBI season 7 is premiering on CBS on Tuesday 15th October at 8pm. It will then be followed by the season premieres of both FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted with new episodes expected to be released weekly in the same slot.

Deadline previously reported that FBI (as well as FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International) will air in the 2024/25 season. As of now, a UK release date has not yet been confirmed.

Speaking to The Direct, Jeremy Sisto did reveal more about when they’ll start filming the new season and said that production “usually starts [s] mid-July”.

There’s also been a change of showrunner for the new season as Death and Other Details co-creator/executive producer Mike Weiss has joined FBI as executive producer and showrunner.

He’s no stranger to working on Dick Wolf productions, having served as co-executive producer on seasons 3 and 4 of Chicago PD so we’ll just have to wait and see what this new season has in store for us!

FBI season 7 cast: Who will return?

As for who will return in the new season of FBI, we’d expect all the main players to – but there’s been an update on some cast members having reduced roles in season 7.

According to Deadline, series regulars on FBI (and its spin-off FBI: Most Wanted) will have their minimum guaranteed appearances trimmed by two episodes next season. A budget-saving exercise that has also recently hit long-running medical drama, Grey’s Anatomy, we’re sure it won’t have too much of an impact of character stories but we’ll just have to wait and see.

While we’d imagine that there will be some new characters joining the series, the main FBI cast that we’d expect to make a return in season 7 are as follows:
